Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand's most popular, and a cruise with Abel Tasman AquaTaxi is the best way to see it if you don't have enough time to walk or kayak the entire park.

Departing from the stunning beach at Totaranui on the north end of the park, just a 45 minute scenic drive from Ratanui Lodge, your skipper will take you south through the Park, stopping for seal viewing and points of interest. AquaTaxi uses small boats that offer a real boating experience rather than a larger "cruise" boat, allowing you to get up close and personal with the Park.

You have two options for your day out in the Park:

Falls River Walk

9:30 am: Drive from Ratanui Lodge to Totaranui (approx. 45 minutes)
10:45 am: Board your boat at Totaranui
11:30 am: Arrive at Torrent Bay. Walk through scenic bush and across a swing bridge to Bark Bay (approximate 3 hours)
2:30 pm (or 4:00pm) Boat from Bark Bay back to Totaranui
3:15 pm (or 4:45pm) Arrive Totaranui and drive back to Ratanui Lodge

Totaranui Scenic Cruise

9:30 am: Drive from Ratanui Lodge to Totaranui (approx. 45 minutes)
10:45 am: Board your boat at Totaranui and enjoy an hour long scenic cruise to Marahau.
12:15pm - 1:30pm: Enjoy lunch at a cafe in Marahau (reservations essential in high season) or pack your own
1:30 pm: Boat from Marahau back to Totaranui
3:15 pm: Arrive Totaranui and drive back to Ratanui Lodge
